A description of the Waco Family YMCA’s classes offered per week:

Absolute Abs
– The entire class focuses on strengthening and toning the abdominal and core region. Resist-a-Ball may be included. MULTI
 
Advanced Step– A fast paced choreography step class that will require your attention.
 
Bench Blast - An athletic step class with a twist of fun that will get your heart rate up and burn lots of calories. INTERMEDIATE
 
Body Shaping– An overall body toning class. No aerobics but a variety of exercises to give you those perfect parts that you’re after. MULTI
 
Butts and Guts – Overall toning for gluts and abs.
 
Cardio Fusion - This cardio interval class combines many different modalities of training all in one great fat-burning class. It offers variety and intensity by integrating BOSU, step, kickboxing, gliding and athletic drills with body shaping. No fancy choreography, just a great, effective workout that will leave you wondering where the time went! MULTI
 
Country and Western Dance – Learn the latest country and western dancing. MULTI
 
Cycle Training-The program we use is Spinning. This class will target specific training zones on the cycle with high and low intensity. MULTI
 
Intermediate Mat Work - A challenging total body conditioning that blends series of exercises to build strength and muscle tone while finessing balance, coordination and mobility. INTERMEDIATE
 
Interval Training – A mix of cardio exercises mixed with resistance exercises and aerobic sprints. A challenging workout for any level participant.
 
Multi-Step – Challenging step combinations from the advanced step class set to multiple benches. INTERMEDIATE-ADVANCED
 
Nia – An aerobic class based on dance and martial arts. It is a barefoot aerobics class that includes cardiovascular conditioning, flexibility, strength, balance, endurance, and relaxation. MULTI
 
Pilates Mat- A program designed to train and condition the body inside out. Focus will be placed on movement initiated through breath, centering, and core strength. This type of exercise increases balance, joint stability, and long lean muscles. MULTI
 
Step N Tone – An intermediate step class with 30-35 minutes of cardio on the step and 30 minutes of toning. INTERMEDIATE-ADVANCED
 
Beginner Step - An introduction to step aerobics to help you learn the basics. Great class to get you comfortable on the bench and familiar with the moves.
 
Beginning Strength Training – An introduction to strength training. Teaches the basic form for weight lifting and endurance training with focus on form and technique.
 
Turbo Kick Boxing – TKB The ultimate cardiovascular challenge complete with a sport specific warm-up, bouts of intense intervals, easy to follow combinations, and kickboxing specific strength/endurance training. INTERMEDIATE-ADVANCED
 
Beginner Turbo Kick Boxing – An introduction to Turbo Kick Boxing to teach the basic kicks, punches, and format of the full TKB class.
 
Yoga – Method of integrating body, mind, and spirit through relaxation, gentle stretching, joint rotation and breathing techniques. MULTI
 
Yogilates – This blend of Pilates and Yoga includes modifications for the group exercise environment, yet offers exercise progressions to challenge all levels of participants. MULTI
 
Power Yoga – A flowing series of yoga postures to increase flexibility and strength while utilizing a weighted ball and strap. MULTI
 
AOA and Chair Yoga/Aerobics – Designed for Active Older Adults. Classes will be done in a chair. BEGINNER
 
Kids’ Fitness – Ages 2-5; an interactive class with parent and child with emphasis on basic motor skills, movements and body awareness.
 
Y Kids Get Fit- Ages 5-9. Class designed to motivate children to become “fit for life” through aerobics, movements, and motor skill enhancement activities. Kids participate in basic step aerobics, running relays, and active games.
 
Zumba® - fuses hypnotic latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a dynamic fitness program that will blow you away. The routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms, and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat. Add some Latin flavor and international zest into the mix and you've got Zumba®! MULTI
 
PACE (Faster Pacer) -People with Arthritis Can Exercise. Most of class will be sitting in a chair.
 
Cardio Boot Camp– A challenging class for ALL levels. Includes circuit training, cardio intervals, weight training, and stretching to give your body the optimal fitness experience.
